Rehabilitation and Strengthening of Rectangular Hollow Section Steel Beams Using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer
Authors(1) :-Wael A. Salah
This paper presents the behavior of cracked rectangular hollow section (RHS) steel beams retrofitted using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) plate. The finite element (FE) analysis is employed to investigate the behavior of initially cracked RHS steel beams. A three dimensional (3D) FE model is developed using ABAQUS software to analyze and investigate the initially cracked RHS steel beams. The results of the FE are validated through the comparisons with the acquired literature experimental results. Then a sort of parametric studies are conducted to investigate the effect of certain parameters of the adhesive material on the strength of the rehabilitated RHS steel beams.
