Abstract

The population of India is increasing continuously due to which the problem of agrarian crisis is arising in our country. 51 percent of the land of India is arable land, mostly inhabited by rural society whose livelihood is based on agriculture. Due to the increase in population, the joint family was broken and converted into a single family and forced to live on agricultural land that was arable. Due to this, the land which was available per capita is now getting reduced continuously. Still some people have 25-30 (twenty-thirty) bighas of land, then the same small farmers have one to three bighas and some farmers do not own the land, they work as wages on the land of big tenants. Due to which their livelihood runs with great difficulty, they are forced to migrate from village to city. Due to the lack of laborers in the villages, an agricultural crisis arises. A realistic depiction of the 21st century agrarian crisis and rural society is seen in Ramdhari Singh 'Diwakar' novel 'Akal Sandhya' where people of Bihar are migrating from village to town in search of economic employment. The agricultural system of the village has collapsed due to these laborers from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana to Jammu in search of work.
