Abstract

In this Study, Taguchi method and regression analysis has been used to optimize the machining parameters during the turning of EN-45 spring steel by plain carbide cutting tool. Experiments were designed and conducted by L16 orthogonal array. The surface roughness, material removal rate and tool wear were optimized by considering cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut as machining parameters. The analyzed results revealed that the feed rate was the most dominating factor for surface roughness and the cutting speed is the most dominating factor for material removal rate and tool wear.
