Atmatattva is often represented in Sanskrit literature. Special importance has been given to the soul in the philosophical side of this literature. The scriptures say that every creature has an element called soul. The soul is immortal, is indestructible, is eternal, is eternal, is immutable, etc. Evidence is given to prove it through words. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad it is said ‘Atmanastu Kamaya Sarvapriyam Bhavati’ i.e. there is soul behind every action of a person. Concerning the existence of the soul, there were thoughts in the Indian year from the Vedic age to the contemporary age.
