Abstract

This study investigates the geographical implications of religious tourism on budget hotels in Northern India, emphasizing spatial patterns, economic effects, and tourist satisfaction. By focusing on prominent religious hubs such as Haridwar, Amritsar, and Rishikesh, the research explores how proximity to pilgrimage sites influences hotel occupancy, financial sustainability, and the provision of culturally tailored services. Seasonal fluctuations in tourist inflow, driven by religious festivals and pilgrimages, highlight the spatial-temporal challenges faced by budget accommodations, particularly during off-peak seasons. The study employs surveys from 250 respondents, including local community members and hotel operators, to analyze correlations between geographical factors and key performance indicators using statistical tools such as Pearson correlation tests. Findings reveal that proximity to religious sites and the spatial distribution of budget hotels play pivotal roles in attracting and retaining religious tourists, particularly during high-demand periods. The research underscores the importance of integrating geographical considerations into tourism planning and the development of collaborative networks between hotels and religious institutions to optimize the economic and cultural benefits of religious tourism. This geographically oriented analysis contributes to understanding the dynamic interplay between location, culture, and economic activities in the context of religious tourism.
